10:30 p.m. update: The City of Brooksville Firefighter who suffered heat exhaustion has been released from the hospital. He is now home resting.

Original story:  55-year old Amos Dorvil was found dead during a residential fire this evening on Twigg Street Brooksville.

Around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) rushed to a reported residential fire located at 821 Twigg Street. 

Firefighters arrived within five minutes and learned from neighbors that someone was still in the building. 

Firefighters from the City of Brooksville Fire Department entered the burning structure to rescue the occupant but found him deceased.

It is not immediately clear if he died before or during the fire.

One of the firefighters from the City of Brooksville Fire Department was overcome with heat exhaustion and is being transported to Bayfront Brooksville Hospital for evaluation, say officials.

Hernando County Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Carroll said there were no firefighters seriously injured.

According to reports, the cause of the fire is not yet known and is under investigation.

Due to the civilian fatality, the State Fire Marshal has been contacted to investigate the scene.
