The infant daughter of a Pasco County Firefighter has died from injuries sustained in a serious traffic crash on Friday afternoon in Lutz.
Clara Garcia was traveling with her parents, Pasco County Firefighter Hunter Garcia and his wife Kayla, on Van Dyke Road in Lutz when their SUV was involved in a multi-vehicle crash.
Baby Clara’s parents both sustained severe injuries and were admitted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. Clara was critically injured and sustained life-threatening injuries.
Baby Clara has died from those injuries.
“It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we report that baby Clara has passed away from her injuries sustained from a horrific traffic crash on Van Dyke Road in Northern Hillsborough County on Friday. She was surrounded by her loving family and will be forever in the hearts of the thousands who have come to know her over the past few days.
Firefighter Garcia was discharged from the hospital yesterday but remains by his wife’s bedside. Thank you to St. Joeseph’s Hospital for accommodating Firefighter Garcia.
We ask the public to please keep Hunter, Kayla, and their families in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. We currently don’t have a date for baby Clara’s funeral, but we will keep everyone informed.” said Pasco County Public information officer Cory Dierdorff.
